Controller
FINANCE | DENVER

Job Summary: Directs the financial affairs of Examiner.com and prepares financial analyses of operations, including interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules, for the guidance of management. The Controller is responsible for the financial plans, maintenance of fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports for the company. The position involves oversight and supervision over general accounting and budgetary controls for the company, as well as following and enforcing the guidelines of corporate accounting policies and procedures. The position has growth opportunities.

Essential functions:

  1. Development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the company.
  2. Maintains the company's system of accounts and keeps books and records on all company transactions and assets.
  3. Aids in establishing financial objectives for the company and prepares reporting that outline the organization's financial position in the areas of income and expense based on past, present, and future operations.
  4. Coordinates and directs the preparation of the budget, financial and other statistical forecasts, and analyzes reports variances.
  5. Furnishes all financial internal reports, revises and updates reports to be more useful and efficient, and furnishes external reports as necessary.
  6. Responsible for overseeing internal and financial audits of the company.
  7. Responsible for review and coordination of subsidiary benefits and HR manager activity.

Essential Qualifications:

  • CPA
  • BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or related major
  • 5+ years of experience in financial management
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Director of Mobile Products

Job Description: Examiner.com is searching for a Director of Mobile Products to lead the design, development and execution of Examiner.com content and services on mobile devices. In this role you will be responsible for driving the vision and execution of Examiner.com for mobile users, expanding the type of information and services we provide and reaching both new and existing consumers.

At Examiner.com we recognize that mobile devices afford an opportunity to not just extend a website to small-screen devices, but to customize the experience in a manner that makes it more personal and useful to consumers on the go. The Director of Mobile is expected to champion a vision for Examiner.com on mobile devices that starts with the available content and services but builds on top of that as a result of better consumer understanding and market opportunity.

This position requires the blend of technical skills and people skills needed to manage the development of high-visibility products and services.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Creating a customer-centric vision for the product portfolio.
  • Defining a roadmap for mobile content, product and technology.
  • Defining the customer experience and driving implementation of that experience throughout the development cycle.
  • Leading engineering, business development, sales and delivery teams to introduce and manage the product line from inception to end of life.
  • Developing competitive advantage through ongoing research and study of the market.
  • Maintaining up to date competitive roadmaps and product trends.
  • Working with marketing to establish tools for successful product introductions through creation of clear messages, technical marketing and communication documents.
  • Be the subject matter expert for Mobile and the main point of contact for third-party Project Managers, third-party Data Developers and mobile vendors we may work with to execute our mobile strategy.
  • In this role, you will need to think quickly, make decision and carry through on them.
  • You must be someone who can thrive and adapt even though a certain level of ambiguity exists in tasks or deliverables.
  • The environment will change quickly around you and an ability to respond rapidly to new information is vital.

Requirements:

  • Must have a strong comprehension of web services and text messaging concepts.
  • Ability to organize and motivate large cross-functional teams.
  • Outstanding written communication skills which will reduce time to resolve support requests.
  • Advanced problem solving and ability to follow complex troubleshooting process steps.
  • Experience with Web Services and systems interface design.
  • 3-5 years experience with wireless data networks, services, and technologies, including: WAP, WML, XHTML, HTTP(S), WAP Push, SMS.
  • Bachelors degree in a related, technical field or 5 years of relevant industry experience.
  • A proven track record of managing the end to end lifecycle of a wireless or mobile product or service.
  • Must have proven success in developing and delivering presentations, including experience with Powerpoint.
  • Strong organizational & multi-tasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks independently.
