It seems that DC is ignoring the need for an annual “skip week” and will be shipping the ONLY comic to come out on the fifth week of December – Blackest Night #6.
According to inside information that has now been confirmed through Geoff Johns’ Twitter page, DC is planning on bypassing a Diamond Comic Distributors decision and releasing a single book on the day every other company is taking a breather.

Oh, yeah. You know that skip week? They are not shipping comics 12/30...EXCEPT FOR BLACKEST NIGHT 6. :)
Diamond, the company that ships comics to retail shops, planned on having a black-out on comics at the end of December to compensate for the clash of Christmas and New Year’s breaks in shipping that would delay delivery to more remote comic shops.
However, with DC deciding to ship Blackest Night #6 independently, this could mean that only ONE book would come out on “skip week,” making the Green Lantern event the beacon for fans on the otherwise blackest of all Wednesdays.
Details are still sketchy as to whether or not Diamond will be shipping this book themselves or DC is using a postal service to ship the books directly to comic shop doorsteps.
Diamond restricts doorstep delivery to retailers who own more than one comic shop. Generally, comic book stores send workers to local Diamond warehouses to pick up the weekly haul and bring it back to the store.
If DC ships their books through an independent parcel company, this would be a slap in the face for the borderline monopoly that Diamond has on comic book delivery.
Even most retailers aren’t sure about how they will be receiving Blackest Night #6, making this whole shakeup all the more interesting.
In the end, all the fans need to know is that they will be getting a late Christmas surprise compliments of DC. As for Diamond, this may just be a lump of coal in their stocking.
