Nashville has another indie record label to add to its rolls, with the launch of Root 49 Records, which has found life thanks to the collaborative efforts of NASCAR’s Ryan and Krissie Newman and Music Row publisher Carolyn Miller.
The trio recently announced the formation of the label, as well as Root 49 Publishing, as part of their MPR Entertainment Group. In the process, they also shared that hit-tunesmith Bridgette Tatum is the flagship artist on their roster, and her debut from Root 49 will drop in early 2010.
As part of the indie label's launch, Root 49 Records shared that Nancy Tunick of Grassroots Promotion and Larry Pareigis of Nine North Records will lead its radio promotion, while Jules Wortman of Wortman Works Media & Marketing will head PR and Michelle Fiddler of Artisanal Management will oversee marketing.
Regarding the indie label's cornerstone artist, Krissie Newman says, “We have watched Bridgette grow over the past few years and she has a natural talent, a strong voice and driven nature. Our business experiences, as well as Carolyn’s amazing accomplishments with her company, can only fuel the momentum surrounding Bridgette. We look forward to a long career in country music.”
The "business experiences" that Krissie Newman refers to center on the racing career of hubby Ryan Newman, winner of the 50th Anniversary Daytona 500 and 12 additional Sprint Cup races.
“Krissie and I are involved in all aspects of my racing career–from marketing and promotion to creative and PR; we can help bring new opportunities to Bridgette’s already skyrocketing career,” Ryan predicts.
As for flagship talent Tatum, who co-wrote the recent multi-week "She's Country" by Jason Aldean, the trio of CEOs profess high hopes for her first full-length album as an artist. Already the comic strip-immortalized Tatum's visiting radio stations across the country promoting her first single, “I Like My Cowboys Dirty” and scoring acclaim as country music’s own Pat Benatar or Joan Jett, thanks to her sultry-vibrato delivery.
